Pat McDonagh
Gay Giano presents PAT MCDONAGH F/W 2010
Born on St. Patrick’s Day, Pat McDonagh attributes her talents to her mother Josephine, who without any training, made all the clothing for her whole family, the neighbours and all who asked. From the age of 3, Pat chose fabrics, helped with fittings and chose styles for herself as well as her sisters and brothers. After studying Ancient Languages at university in London and Paris, she became a model, TV celebrity and finally, a fashion designer. Pat quickly made her mark on the North American fashion scene upon her arrival to Canada. She was honoured by Bloomingdales with Pat McDonagh windows around the New York store. Following that, she opened her own boutique, The Re-Establishment, during the boutique phenomena of the late 70s. Pat’s career has been marked with a number of great achievements and awards, including being the only Canadian to receive the prestigious American Legend Fur Award. In 2002, Pat’s designs were chosen to dress the winner of the Elite Model Contest in Beijing, China and her clothes were shown on national Chinese television before the Prime Minister of China and 2 million viewers. Pat was also a Matinee 2002 International winner, and a 2003 recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award presented on behalf of the Fashion Industry at Fashion Week. In 2005, Robin Kay and the Fashion Design Council of Canada presented Pat with an award to celebrate her 40th anniversary in the fashion industry. Expanding globally, Pat is happy to announce her new collaboration with Gay Giano, China. This collection will be presented in China for their Gay Giano 30th Anniversary and the gowns will be worn by the contestants in the Miss Hong Kong pageant, which is broadcasted on national Chinese television.
